President’s Message

Paulo Lay, Amy Perkin – 2021 / 2022 Centre Presidents

Welcome to the 2021-22 season of Chelsea Little Athletics.

As the new Centre Presidents – a role that will be shared by the two of us this season – we extend a warm welcome to all our members, both returning and those new to Chelsea.

Despite the challenges of COVID-19, we are pleased to say that our volunteer Centre Committee has put together another jam-packed program of events.

We are looking forward to another successful season, hot on the heels of the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.

It’s always exciting to be involved in athletics in an Olympic year and we are sure athletes will have fun again at Chelsea this season – our 53rd year of family, fun and fitness.

Favourite events such as our pre-Christmas Ray White Chelsea Gift, our relaython and Bendigo Bank Medallion Day when awards and trophies are handed out, will help to ensure that athletes have a fun and enjoyable experience this season.

Of course, the emphasis at Chelsea remains not on where you place in an event but on improvement and how well you perform against your own best. It is the reason why our most prestigious award goes to the athlete who gets the most PBs in a season.

To stay up-to-date with all our events, please keep an eye on our emails to you and on our website and Facebook page for all our latest news and information.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our outgoing President, Shane Adams, for his efforts and contributions over the past two seasons.

We would also like to recognise the contribution our committee and other volunteers made last season to ensure that our season was a great success both on and off the track. Notably, our athletes achieved more than 1500 PBs and set 10 new centre records – so the challenge is certainly on for our athletes this season.

The centre is in a very strong position and for that we are extremely grateful for all the hard work the committee and all our parents continue to put in. As a voluntary community-based organisation, we depend on our members to make the club what it is, hopefully a great success. So please get on board, we need your help on a range of roles at the club, please contact one of our Committee if you are interested.

We would also like to thank the ongoing support from all our sponsors. Community sport relies heavily on community support, and we are grateful for the support we receive.

In closing, we hope that everyone has a fantastic season full of fun and enjoyment, and we look forward to seeing you all at the track.

Enjoy your athletics & BE YOUR BEST
